Willie Obiano, the former governor of Anambra, has been released by the EFCC, but his passport has been seized.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) released former governor of Anambra State on administrative bail on Wednesday evening, March 23.

Obiano’s “passport was seized by the anti-graft agency as part of his bail conditions,” according to commission official who verified the news to Dailytrust.

Recall that Obiano was apprehended by EFCC operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, while on his way to the United States, only hours after he handed over to the state’s new governor, Charles Soludo.

He was then moved to the commission’s offices, where he was interrogated for days over suspected mishandling of N5 billion in Sure-P funds, N37 billion in security votes that were withdrawn in cash, and some inflated contracts.
