Ukrainian military train youngsters as young as four years old to fire and defend their country's borders from Russian invasion (photos)

As Ukraine’s military ramps up its defense operations in anticipation of a Russian military invasion, children as young as four have been photographed receiving military training at a rigorous volunteer boot camp.

Young and old people were taught the fundamentals of military abilities at a voluntary boot camp in the snow-covered woods near Kiev, Ukraine’s capital.

Taras, a four-year-old boy, and his brother Bohdan, a four-year-old boy, both clutched wooden assault guns as men and women practiced against Russia in the background.

‘I don’t think they comprehend the war and what’s going on,’ said Iryna, 35, the children’s mother. ‘But they love everything to do with the military.’

‘I will not stop them from becoming soldiers when they grow up and fighting to defend their motherland.’

‘But for the time being, they want to be a firefighter and a cop.’

Iryna’s uncle served in the Ukrainian Army and was killed in an explosion during a combat in Debaltseve, Donbas, which is currently under Russian control.

‘We didn’t receive his full body back,’ Iryna continued.

Yaroslav, a ten-year-old boy who wielded his wooden imitation assault rifle alongside adults training for Kyiv’s Territorial Defence Force.

The recruits hoped to join Kyiv’s Territorial Defence Force’s 127 Battalion.

According to military guidelines, the youngsters are unable to join up as real volunteers since they must be at least 18 years old, but another recruit and public servant, Tetiana, from Kyiv, told the Daily Mail:
