The state government claims there is no bandit barricade on the Kaduna-Abuja route after Shehu Sani raised the alarm.

Bandits barricaded the Kaduna-Abuja highway and kidnapped some commuters, according to the Kaduna State Government.

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna lawmaker, claimed on Thursday that “Bandits in big numbers have again blocked the Kaduna-Abuja route this afternoon, according to a distress call. “Travelers are rapidly going backwards,” says the narrator.

In a statement, Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, stated the report was incorrect.

“A few hours ago, there was some fear on social media about bandits barricading the Kaduna-Abuja Road and snatching individuals who were passing through,” he said.

“The rumor is incorrect, and it was spread by a group of social media enthusiasts that enjoy spreading bad news.

“Fleeing bandits fleeing a military onslaught attempted to pass through a small passage at Kasarami general area of Kaduna-Abuja road, according to preliminary operational feedback.”

“When the troops received this information, they moved quickly to the spot and engaged them in the adjacent woodland.”

“When more specific feedback is received, the Kaduna State Government will inform members of the general public.”

“The Kaduna State Government acknowledges that security concerns exist and continues to cooperate closely with appropriate military and security institutions.”
