The Zamfara State House of Assembly has said that no court ruling will prevent it from impeaching the state’s Deputy Governor, Barr. Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.
Alhaji Shamsudeen Bosko, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, stated on Tuesday, February 15, that the impeachment process was in accordance with Section 188(5)(7) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and that “no court can halt” it.
When allegations of financial malfeasance, insubordination, and inability to complete assigned duties were brought before the house, 18 of the 24 parliamentarians voted in favor of the motion, according to Bosko.
This comes after the deputy governor filed a suit in the Federal High Court in Abuja on March 10 to halt his impeachment by the State House of Assembly.
