Super TV boss murder: trial of Chidinma Ojukwo stalled as defense counsel cries foul over proof of evidence

The trial of Chidinma Ojukwo, the 300 level student of mass communication of Lagos state university who is suspected to have murdered the late Mr Usifo Asaga, the chief executive officer of Super TV, was stalled at Lagos state high court.

It will be recalled that Chidinma and her co-accused Adebayo Quadri and Chioma Egbuchu after sitting in October, pleaded not guilty of the nine-court charge before Justice Yetunde Adesanya, and the case was subsequently adjourned to November 9 for the prosecution led by the Director of Public Prosecution from the Lagos state Ministry of Justice, Olayinka Adeyemi to open case against the accused persons.

Mrs Adeyemi at the resumption of trial today, told the court that two witnesses were present in the court. But, counsel for the second defendant, Babatunde Busari told the court that the proof of evidence on the case brought to him by the prosecution was not legible and that a video clip that also serve as proof evidence was not audible.

However, the case was still adjourned to Thursday, November 11 to enable the prosecution to amend the court processes.

The suspect, Chidinma Ojukwo and co-accused person, Quadri were alleged to have conspired among themselves to murder the CEO, Usifo Asaga on June 15, 2021, at 19, Adewale Oshin street, Lekki phase 1, Lagos, by stabbing him repeatedly on his neck and chest with a knife.

They were arraigned on eight counts bordering murder, forgery and stealing.

Chioma Egbuchu who was also arraigned is said to be a relative to Chidinma and also in possession of late Mr Usifo Asaga’s stolen iPhone 7 , which was reported to have been recovered from her.
