Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives after they forced their way into his Abuja house.
Okorocha, who had earlier refused to be taken away by the agents, stating that he will not surrender to the anti-graft agency without a warrant, was detained and hauled away around 6:48 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24.
The EFCC’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwajuren, had earlier stated that agents from the anti-graft agency were at the Senator’s residence to bring him before a federal high court in Abuja for allegedly colluding with five firms and others to steal N2.9 billion in public monies. Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited are among the other defendants on trial in the case.
