
The Niger State Police Command has arrested Emmanuel Dominic, 24, of the Tungan area of Minna, for impersonating a soldier.
In a statement released on Wednesday, November 17, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect was apprehended by operatives from the Maitumbi Division.
The suspect, dressed in Nigerian Army camouflage, went to the Police Division on October 27 and paraded himself as a Nigerian Army soldier with service number 05313 attached to TRADOC, Minna in order to secure the release of his friend who was being held in police custody, according to the PPRO.
“The suspect was discovered to be a fake soldier during interrogation and was arrested. He later confessed to being a barrack boy at Army barrack Minna. He also claimed that the uniform he has belonged to his late father, who was a soldier, according to him “As stated by Abiodun.
One wooden carved gun, two axes, one jackknife, two kit bags, two OG green trousers, one army camouflage vest, shirt, boot, face cap, and a walking stick were among the items recovered from the suspect during the investigation.
With the wooden carved gun, jackknife, and axe, the suspect is suspected of robbing victims in Minna and its environs.
The case is being investigated, and the suspect will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as the investigation is completed, according to DSP Abiodun.
