The qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been drawn by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) (AFCON).
Nigeria’s national squad was placed in Group A alongside Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, and Sao Tome and Principe at the draw, which took place at the SuperSport channel’s studios in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Three times, the Super Eagles have won the AFCON title, and four times, they have finished second.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the AFCON competition for the first time in 2017, after also failing to qualify for the 2015 edition.
The AFCON 2023 qualification matches will begin on May 30, 2022, one year before the tournament kicks off in Cote d’Ivoire.
