Nigerians are not being asked to donate money to help victims, according to the Minister of Transport.

Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, has rejected media reports that he stated Nigerians should donate money to help victims of the March 28 train incident.

Terrorists attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train, killing eight people, wounding 21 others, and kidnapping an unknown number of people.

Earlier today, there were rumors that the Minister had encouraged Nigerians to donate money to the injured victims on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Ministry clarified that, contrary to reports, the Minister stated that the Nigerian Railway Corporation should consult with hospital management to determine how much they can pay to the patients’ treatment.
