A social justice campaigner and successful author told his experience to encourage others who are discouraged by their poor beginnings.
The author claimed that he didn’t learn to spell his name until he was ten years old, and that his wife taught him the difference between “there” and “their” when he was in his twenties.
He went on to become a bestselling author despite his restrictions.
He wrote on Twitter:
“I couldn’t spell my own name until I was 10. My mom had to fill out my first big job application when I was 16. I didn’t know the difference between there/their until my wife taught me in my late 20s. In my 30s, I had two books become bestsellers. Just a reminder of the possible.”
