Davido earns over N140m in a day, after asking his friends for N1m. Psqaure and Others Joins the Trend

After asking colleagues for N1 million, Nigerian singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, received over N140 million in cash transfers in less than 24 hours.

When the multi-award-winning songwriter posted a video on his Instagram Story asking those he had helped in the music industry to send him a million naira, fans and followers assumed he was joking.

“We rise by lifting others abi?” Davido said. For the past 100 years, I have not been rising or lifting others. As a result, I’d like to know who my friends are. Every one of my friends has a million Naira. We’re 30BG, they said. If you don’t send your own, you’ll be charged. You’re not welcome here. “You’ve left (sic).”

To prove he wasn’t joking, the father of three posted his account number and screenshots of money sent into it on his stories thread.

Akin Alabi, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency in Oyo State, and Emeka Okonkwo, aka E-money, a businessman and socialite, were among those who sent money to Davido.

Mr Eazy, Teni the Entertainer, Chike, Adekunle Gold, Perruzi, and Ikorodu Bois are among the entertainers who have credited the singer’s account.

Meanwhile, Psquare’s Nigerian Super Duo, Peter and Paul, have decided to join the trend by launching a birthday fund-raising account, which has elicited mixed reactions. Post B can be found here.
