On Saturday, March 26, Nollywood actress Toyin Adegbola, as Toyin Tomato, made a ruckus at the Shoprite in Ring Road, Ibadan, after store authorities accused her daughter of shoplifting and allegedly molested her. Toyin Tomato said she went to the mall to solve the problem after leaving the hospital bed where she was receiving a drip. Unknown gunmen attacked the Umuguma Divisional Police Headquarters in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State in the early hours of Saturday, March 19. Two police officers were slain. According to accounts, the gunmen blocked all roads going into and out of the station division, including one near to the local government headquarters, before attacking the station with IEDs. They waited to attack officers who rushed out for safety after burning the station on fire. Ifeanyi and Iyke, two police officers, were unlucky enough to run into a hail of gunshots.

The victim’s body was discovered thrown at the rear of her mother’s shop in Oke-Oore by the ritualists, according to a resident of Oke-Oore who requested anonymity. Joseph Egbunike, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, has died. DIG Egbunike was born in Onitsha, Anambra State, and was the most senior police officer in the country’s Southeast zone until his death. At the late hours of Tuesday, March 8, he allegedly slumped and died in his Abuja office. He also served as the chairman of the Special Investigation Panel established by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to examine the suspended chief of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, who was indicted by the Department of Justice in a money laundering case. Egbunike has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Accounting degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons. ), a Masters in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD), and a PhD in Criminology. In Police Mortgage Bank Plc, the late DIG represented the Nigeria Police Force finances and budget. Nura Kazeem, a 22-year-old motorbike rider, was crushed to death at the Aseese, Ogun State end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly being hounded by some motorcycle riders’ union officials in the neighborhood over an N600 ticket when he drove into a commercial bus and perished. Kazeem was prepared to fly to his hometown in the North with his brothers when he was approached by one of the union members, simply known as Ayomo, about purchasing a day ticket. The victim was alleged to have declined to purchase the ticket because he was unemployed and planning to travel. Ayomo and other union officials were allegedly pursuing him when he allegedly slammed into a white Mazda bus and died on the spot. The state police leadership has not yet responded to this development. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to calm inflamed nerves, as some Hausa community members believe Nura’s death could have been avoided.
