Relatives, activists, and other demonstrators descended on the State House of Assembly in Lagos to seek justice for Oluwabamise Ayanwola’s murder.

After boarding BRT car on her way home from the state’s Lekki region, the 22-year-old tailor was discovered dead.

The demonstrators, who went to the Assembly with Damilola Titilayo Ayanwola, the deceased’s direct elder sister, said it was distressing that such an occurrence occurred.

They also demanded that the government make greater steps to safeguard the safety of people and property.

The demonstrators also demanded justice and expressed reservations about the safety of BRT buses.
Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, told the demonstrators that the legislative arm of the state government will see to it that justice was given in the issue.
Obasa expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and friends, saying that he and his colleagues are deeply worried about the situation.

“The erroneous belief that it would be swept under the carpet is unnecessary. The driver has been arrested and is in custody,” the Speaker said.

“We are watching and must ensure justice is done on the case. The Governor has spoken about it and I just want to appeal that we work together to get justice.

“We will do everything to make sure that justice is served. Justice must be served. And everybody in Lagos must be protected.” he added.

While encouraging Nigerians not to interfere with the police investigation, he stated that the House will not take its eyes off the subject in order to guarantee that justice is done properly.
