The Adamawa State Police Command apprehended Blessing John, an 18-year-old female, as she was reportedly attempting to sell a youngster she abducted to ritualists.
According to reports, the suspect enticed the youngster (name withheld) from her Michika neighborhood and transported him to Mubi in search of a buyer.
DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the event to Daily Trust, saying the culprit was apprehended after receiving a tip.
Nguroje stated that the adolescent informed police detectives that she kidnapped the youngster to gather money to buy a car and live a lavish lifestyle.
“She took the small child to Mubi to sell it, but when she couldn’t contact the purchasers on the phone, she decided to find another bidder.”
“She ended up talking to the wrong person, who then called the cops,” he explained.
According to him, the adolescent met a kidnapper during a recent trip to Mubi after a friend informed her she might make money by delivering children to ritualists and people traffickers.
The police official urged parents to keep an eye on their children and report any strange people or movements to the nearest security post.
