
At Garin Ganau Village in Babura Local Government, Jigawa State, a day-old baby was discovered inside a well.
On Friday, Nov. 26, passers-by on their way to the farm heard a youngster wailing inside an abandoned well and stopped to check.
Fortunately, the baby was able to be rescued from the well.
In a statement to the Daily Post, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, spokesman for the Jigawa State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence.
He said the police got a report that a recently born infant was discovered dumped in a well in Garin Ganau village, Babura local government, on Friday about 1500 hours.
The baby was later removed, according to Shiisu, and sent to Babura General Hospital for a medical examination.
He stated the infant was treated and discharged, and that he is in good health, and that he was given over to the Babura LGA’s Social Welfare Department.
A 35-year-old divorcee Ni’ima Yakubu, the child’s mother, was arrested throughout the course of the investigation, according to a police spokeswoman.
He stated that the situation is still being investigated.
